WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are data created by a server and then stored on text files on the computer’s hard disk or on any device used by the user to access the Internet (smart phone, tablet), and enable the collection of the user’s browsing information.

Cookies can be stored permanently on your computer for different amounts of time (i.e. persistent cookies), but they can also disappear once the browser has been closed or have a limited duration (i.e. session cookies).

Cookies can be installed by the site you are visiting (i.e. first-party cookies) or they can be installed by other web sites (i.e. third-party cookies).

HOW DO WE USE COOKIES?

1. Technical Cookies

a) Session/browsing cookies: The use of these so-called session cookies (which are not permanently stored on the user’s computer and disappear once the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the sending of session identifiers (made up of random numbers generated by the server) needed to browse securely and efficiently on the site and its applications. The session cookies used on the site of Fata S.p.A. avoid having to resort to other IT techniques that could be detrimental to user browsing confidentiality, and do not allow the acquisition of the user’s personal identification data. They do not require the user’s consent.

b) Persistent Cookies: persistent cookies remain on the device even after the user has left the website, until the user cancels them or they reach their expiry date. The site of Fata S.p.A. creates this type of cookie and stores them on the device so that they can be read when the user visits the site again. This, for example, makes it possible to find, even on subsequent visits to the site, the preferences that were set (i.e. language). They do not require the user’s consent.

2. Analytics Cookies

These are cookies installed to gather aggregate information that is primarily statistical in nature (amount of time spent on a web page, number of visitors to the site…

a) First-party analytical cookies: These are similar to technical cookies in that they are installed directly by the site the user is visiting to make it easier to use. They do not require the user’s consent.

b) Third-party analytical cookies: Analytical cookies created and installed by third parties to analyze user browsing for the purpose of preparing statistics on visits or to improve the content being offered, showing products that are similar to each other, and possibly to place specific advertising on the web page. The system that is used for this is Google Analytics, a web analytical service provided by Google LLC (“Google”). Google Analytics, like the other systems, uses “cookies to allow the website to analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie on the use of the website by the user (including the IP address) will be transferred to and stored on Google’s servers in the United States. Google will use this information to trace and examine the use of the website, prepare reports on website activities and provide other Internet use services. Google can also transfer this information to third parties if required by law or in cases where these third parties handle this information on behalf of Google. Google will not associate the user’s IP address to any other data held by Google. Users can in any event refuse to use the cookies by making the appropriate selection on their browsers, but this could compromise the use of some of the site’s functions.

3.Profiling Cookies

These cookies are used to trace users’ browsing habits on the web and to create profiles based on their tastes, habits, choices, etc. Together with these cookies, advertisements can be sent to the user’s computer based on the preferences already expressed by the user while browsing on line.

a) First-party profiling cookies: The site of Fata S.p.A. neither uses nor installs profiling cookies to collect information on browsing habits.

b) Third-party profiling cookies: The site of Fata S.p.A. neither uses nor installs third-party profiling cookies to collect information on browsing habits.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR COOKIES SETTINGS

Most Internet browsers are initially set to automatically allow cookies. This means that users can at any time change their browser settings to allow all cookies, only some cookies, or block them, by disabling their use by the sites. Users can also generally set the preferences on their browsers so that they receive a notification each time a cookie is stored on their computers. And at the end of each browsing session, the user can cancel the cookies from the device’s hard drive. If the user wishes to cancel the cookies installed in the browser’s cookie folder, remember that each browser has different procedures to change the settings.

By clicking on one of the links below, the user can get specific instructions for some of the main browsers.
